Engine and Part Warranty Info

All parts have a minimum of a 90 day warranty against manufacturing defects and premature failure unless otherwise noted, some parts may have an installation requirement to obtain warranty coverage for example low pressure fuel pumps must have an in-line fuel filter installed before the pump to have warranty coverage. These stipulations will be noted on the product page if there are any.

Complete replacement Rato engines purchased from MSU directly have a 2 year/500 hour domestic warranty - 12 month/500 hour commercial warranty from their delivery date that covers any manufacturing defects and premature failure. This does not mean if your starter goes you will receive a new engine, it means MSU will provide non-maintenance replacement parts as long as it's reasonable to do so. See below details.

Rato Engine Coverage, 2 year/500 hour domestic warranty - 12 month/500 hour commercial:

Electronic Parts, voltage regulator, starter, coil packs, charging coil: 
Solution: Part replacement after troubleshooting

Cylinders, pistons, camshaft, rods, rings, bearings: 
Solution: Engine replacement as needed after troubleshooting.

Head Casting, valves, valve springs, push rods, other metal head parts: 
Solution: Head or engine replacement as needed after troubleshooting.

Gaskets, seals, valve guide seals:
Solution: Part replacement after troubleshooting

Carburetor parts, throttle control springs,clips, oil cooler and all other parts not mentioned here in this policy:
Solution: Part replacement after troubleshooting

Routine maintenance parts are not covered under this warranty including: Air filters, oil filters, dipsticks, oil drain bolts and seal washers, spark plugs, fuel filters and oil and fuel hoses.

Unauthorized engine modifications (like removal of the anti-backfire solenoid or other factory installed device) or use of unregulated electronic fuel pumps not supplied by MSU for use with your engine will void this warranty immediately. Not following the required maintenance schedule for air filter changes, oil changes, valve adjustment, carbon buildup removal and other periodic tasks outlined in the Rato User Manual will void this warranty immediately. By purchasing an engine from MSU you are agreeing to these terms.
